Curing Diseases with Team 11108
Hello,
this is my folding section. Not really part of my project but I can at least host this small file on what is up for my folding pleasures. I have been folding for Team Maximumpc for about six months or so and I'm loving every minute of it. The points, contests, IRC chats, the compasion that people show for one another on this team is amazing and demonstrates the REAL reason why the internet exists. Anyway, to the point-here is a list of machines Folding for my user name right now:
UNIX machines
- AMD Athlon64 X2 50000+ Black Edition - FreeBSD7.0/i386 compiled and configured for Desktop use.
aka, BrodeyBSD 65W TDP, 3.0GHz., 2x512KB L2 Cache
- AMD Turion ML-40 - FreeBSD7.0/i386 compiled and configured for Desktop use.
aka, PotvinBSD 35W TDP, 2.2GHz., 1MB L2 Cache

USB Drive Speeds
Running Flash drives to save energy *I will now be using a Lenovo at work and HDTach for testing purposes*
So, it seems that most people are running USB keys instead of hard drives and CD drives on their dedicated folding machines. After finding a machine that was capable of booting from a USB key I was rushing to find a way to run FreeBSD on a small USB key. Thanks to Futureshop, I was able to obtain a 1GB Kingston USB key for only $7.99+tx! The Kingston traveler is the USB king in my staple thus far. If you haven't notice, I'm a new flash memory fan. Enough talk, let's see some results.
Kingston Traveler USB2.0 1GB the perfect candidate!
- Timing cached reads: 4728MB 2.00s, 2366.96MB/sec
- Timing Buffered reads: 50MB 3.07s, 16.29MB/sec
SanDisk Cruzer USB2.0 2GB
2GB totally unnecessary because of the light package that FreeBSD allows
- Timing cached reads: 4620MB 2.00s, 2311.89MB/sec
- Timing Buffered reads: 42MB 3.04s, 13.82MB/sec
MyFlash 128MB
- Timing cached reads: 4560MB 2.00s, 2282.01MB/sec
- Timing Buffered reads: 18MB 3.03s, 5.93MB/sec
Apple iPod Nano 1st Gen, 1GB
